Village in Your Pocket
Parenting a child who is explosive, anxious, overwhelmed or just having a really hard time can be exhausting.
Some days you know exactly what to do.
Other days you question everything.
Connected Care: Village In Your Pocket is a free 30-day text service designed to give you one small moment of support each day.
Not another parenting program.
Not homework.
Not a list of things you should be doing better.
Just one short text that gets how hard this can be, reminds you what matters, and helps you keep going.

You spend so much time supporting your child.
This is a little bit of support for you.
Proven strategies that work
This course covers key topics in short, accessible videos
Understanding your child’s behaviour
Children have two key factors that influence their behvaviour.
You'll learn:
why your child can be defiant, angry and aggressive, no matter how loving you are
the foundation for self-regulation
Understanding this concept is a lightbulb for many parents.
Understanding escalation
Escalation is rarely about a single moment, and it's often about the long-term interactions.
This section helps you understand:
why escalations happen
what maintains them
how small changes in your responses can shift the pattern
All without arguing, giving in, or losing your authority.
De-escalation
De-escalation is not about being passive or permissive.
It’s about:
knowing when to engage and when to pause
reducing fuel in the moment
building calm authority over time
Small shifts here can make a big difference.
Parenting was never meant to happen alone.
You deserve someone in your corner, too.

I'm Tamar Sloan, a psychologist who works with parents of children and teens experiencing big emotions, anxiety, aggression, defiance and overwhelm.
For most of human history, parents raised children with the support of a village. Today, many parents are carrying the weight of parenting without that same sense of community.
A lot of my work is helping parents move away from blame and battles, and towards steadiness, connection and boundaries that actually hold.
Connected Care: In Your Pocket grew from something I hear again and again:
"I just wish I had someone reminding me of this when things are hard."
So that's what this is: a small piece of support, delivered when you might need it most, to remind you that you're not alone.
